Bangor City player/boss Clayton Blackmore has revealed that he had to overcome the threat of a mass walkout when he took over last month.

Academy director Mel Jones held the reins at Farrar Road for a short time following the resignation of Peter Davenport, but Blackmore was handed the role by chairman Ken Jones in an apparent U-turn on the managerial position.

"My first seven days in charge were very difficult," ex-Manchester United star Blackmore told the Non-League Paper. "So many of the boys wanted to leave because they felt so uncertain about what was happening around them."

Since taking charge, Blackmore has brought in Kieran Killackey from Altrincham, Tom Harrison from Welshpool and Mike Linnecar from Bangor University, while midfielder Paul Friel has left for Porthmadog.

"The new faces are doing particularly well - however, we are all trying to bed back in at the moment," he adds.
